Free Cheese Prints is a custom screen printing business, located right here in the heart of Amarillo, TX. Along with screen printing they also do design work, embroidery, and so many other services.
We sat down with Tate and Reese, the owners of Free Cheese Prints, and asked them some questions about their growing business. To read more, follow along with the interview below:
What made you want to start your business in the Texas Panhandle?
Tate & Reesa: We are a husband/wife duo. Tate was born and raised right here in Amarillo. Reesa was planted here years ago and stuck around after falling in love with all things Texas. We are in the perfect spot to grow and live affordably whilst being close to so many amazing larger cities. We have a huge art community and are still connected with the west through Route 66. Win win all around.
From your perspective, what makes your business a one-of-a-kind shopping experience?
Tate & Reesa: We put a huge focus on all things Amarillo and the High Plains. Since we design and hand print all of our apparel, we are able to focus on the quality. We also offer custom screen printing and we let our line of shirts act as a portfolio. Soft shirts and even softer ink practices really make us unique here in the Panhandle.
There are many things you love about Amarillo, but can you tell us your favorite part about being a business owner in Amarillo?
Tate & Reesa: The community in Amarillo is super supportive. We have a great group of friends and clients/consumers who become friends. It’s a special feeling that only small businesses get to have. Our circle grows bigger everyday.
Along with loving being a business owner in Amarillo, what has been your favorite thing about being a part of the collective?
Tate & Reesa: Sitting side by side with some of the most talented businesses in the area is something we are proud to be a part of. All the curated displays make the shopping experience fun and memorable – its a place worth bragging about.
What are you up to when you’re not busy printing t-shirt, stickers, etc? Any hobbies or interest?
Tate & Reesa: Around town we love to play golf and pickleball. We listen and collect records and love getting to live shows. Photography and Videography are other huge passions of ours and it’s fun incorporating that into our business. I would say our biggest passtime is traveling though. We love roadtrips and train rides through European cities. It gives us a creative drive when we come home and then we work hard so we can do it all over again. It’s a tried and true cycle of inspiration and motivation.
Is there anything in 2024 you are looking forward to?
Tate & Reesa: 2024 marks our very first year at the Canyon Farmers Market. We are so thrilled to be a part of a huge community event like this and having a place to go to see our friends and neighbors every week during a huge chunk of the year.
