The Pear Tree is a loved store for those seeking unique gifts, home décor, and everyday essentials. Known for its warm, family-friendly atmosphere, this charming boutique has been serving the community for years, offering an inviting shopping experience for locals and visitors alike. The Pear Tree loves families and helps them find the perfect gift! Whether you’re looking for a special present or something to enhance your home, The Pear Tree has something for everyone!

We sat down with Susie Breitling, the owner of The Pear Tree, and asked her some questions about her boutique located in Dalhart! To read more, follow along with the interview below:

What made you come to the heart of the Texas Panhandle?

Susie: A job with Texas A&M Extension Service in 1976. I served as a county extension agent and met my husband in Dalhart. We have two grown daughters and five grandsons and are still here. After retiring from the Extension Service, my daughter and I bought The Pear Tree in 2011.

What sets your business apart as a truly unique shopping experience?

Susie: We have gifts for every age – a large toy department, a large selection of jewelry, fresh floral, loungewear, a large tabletop selection for brides, and layette selections for baby gifts.

What do you love most about being a business owner in Amarillo?

Susie: It is interesting that even though the Panhandle is similar from town to town, each is still very unique. Items that sell well in Amarillo, may or may not sell in Dalhart.

What has been the most rewarding part of joining the Collective?

Susie: Meeting other vendors! I LOVE the support we receive From 6th Collective management and staff – they are the best!

What keeps you busy outside of work? Any passions or hobbies?

Susie: Gardening and landscaping, spending time with all of my family, we are very involved with Grace United Methodist Church

What exciting promotions are you offering for the rest of the year?

Susie: We will have a promotion in November on Madame Alexander dolls. Baby dolls encourage nurturing and we believe this is an important trait for little girls and boys. We hope to have a jewelry show, although we are still processing the details.
