We sat down with Deanna, the owner of Cornell’s Country Store, and asked her some questions about her boutique located in Clarendon, TX. To read more, follow along with the interview below:
Why did you decide to open up a store in the Texas Panhandle and what has been your favorite part?
Deanna: My husband was born and raised in Clarendon, Texas. We met and married where I grew up, south of Houston. We moved up here in 1989 to raise our family. Then we opened a small feed store in 1997 and in 2001 we opened Cornell’s Country Store at its current location! Best decision we ever made!
My favorite part about being here is the people of the panhandle – hands down. We are a stones’ throw from Amarillo just down Highway 287 South. We love our customers and are happy to call many of them friends!
Can you share why you love having a second location at the 6th Collective?
Deanna: From 6th Collective is an all-in-one shopping experience and has brought us, new customers, from all around the area. We are honored to serve Amarillo and the surrounding communities!
Whenever you are not busy running the business, what do you enjoy doing? Any hobbies or interests?
Deanna: I have recently started my journey to becoming a Master Gardener and I love it. I enjoy reading, baking and decorating cakes, decorating our home, and spending time with the grandkids! My husband and I also enjoy traveling in our RV whenever we can get away.
Is there anything you want to share with your customers about Cornell’s Country Store?
Deanna: We are constantly mixing things up. So if you didn’t find that perfect item the first time just come back and see us! We’re kind of like Texas weather…just hang around a sec and it’ll change!
We are now half way through 2024, is there anything you are looking forward to the rest of the year?
Deanna: New friends, new customers, new relationships, and on a personal note TWO new grand babies this Fall!
