As you know, we’re all about sharing and uplifting the local makers and shakers in our community, and you’ve heard about some of our favorite places to eat and explore around town thanks to our Local Love feature. Today however, we’re sharing about one organization we were proud to be a part of this past year, the Amarillo Art Force. Art Force was created in 1985 to support students and faculty in the Fine Arts and Humanities departments at Amarillo College through student scholarships and department support.
Over $850,000 in grants and scholarships have been raised since Art Force’s inception through generous Art Force members, membership, and the Cooking School Events that are held throughout late spring and summer each year.
As an art grad myself, I was honored to sit on the Art Force board as Event Coordinator since the fall of last year. While it was a wild time to be planning dinner parties, I’m so grateful that our community was able to come together as summer began. It was delightful getting to meet all of the hosts in their lovely homes as well as all of the chefs and collaborators. Below you’ll find a little recap of the Amarillo Art Force’s Mediterranean event (photos: Salvador Gutierrez). It was stellar on all accounts. The setting was magical, the food incredible, and the attendees spectacular! If you’re interested in joining for next year, head on over to their website and get signed up! We’re glad to announce that Art Force raised over $19,000 this year.
In addition to the Art Force Grant Fund, there are seven scholarship funds housed by the Amarillo College Foundation.
•Art Force Art Scholarship
•Art Force Choral Music Scholarship
•Art Force Creative Mind Supports Fund
•Art Force Music Scholarship
•Art Force Opera Scholarship
•Art Force Suzuki Scholarship
•Art Force Theater Arts Scholarship
