Hey everyone, Kasey here. So I told you I was going to be completely transparent when it comes to the process of our new venture. I haven’t shared too much on social media because, if I’m being honest, there hasn’t been that much to share.

When we first announced the project and our vision, we had officially purchased the land. I had started the site plans, floor plans, and even selected some materials for the finish out. Then, my dad / my contractor, who we keep pushing to slow down, took on a couple new commercial projects. At that point, I knew the timeline on my endeavor was going to be delayed a couple more months, so I decided to gather bids on my own. I knew the bids were high, but I went ahead and sat down with our banker to start planning out our construction loan anyway. Reality check! Turns out there’s a reason why my dad is the president of our company. He’s the only one that can get the construction numbers low enough in order to make the project feasible. I guess that’s the benefit of experience and networking, right?

Once I started crunching the numbers in terms of payments I’d be making leading up to opening, I just couldn’t stomach it. Now that the paper work side of opening this new business has taken 3 months longer than expected, it puts us on a weird timeline in regards to an opening date as well. A holiday opening sounds nice, but not only will it make things extremely stressful for my family (it’s already my busiest season when it comes to design projects & the nat), but holiday orders are usually placed in June. I mean, what if it keeps raining and pushes the construction timeline over? I’d be stuck with a ton of merchandise and no where to sell it!

Don’t panic though. The Collective IS coming. Real life just gets in the way sometimes. Hopefully you’re still enjoying all the things we’re putting out into the universe in the meantime! If there’s something you want to see from us that we’ve yet to share, just shoot us a message.
