This month’s local love feature is an exciting one. Every month we highlight local retail shops, makers, or restaurants in our area that we love to visit and support. Today we’re happy to share about Vonleikam.
For Ali, the gal behind Vonleikam, it was the joy of making cakes and sweets for others that inspired her. What all started as a hobby, became a creative outlet that reminded her of her childhood and the excitement of being artistic at a young age.
When she’s not working her full-time job, she’s busy on weekends creating one-of-a-kind custom cakes or confections for her clients in the Panhandle area. Her work is truly a feast for the eyes (and your belly!).
The name Vonleikam is an ode to her German grandmother, Leona’s last name, Leikam. The word “von” is the German word for “of” or “from.” She combined those two to honor her grandmother that raised her into the woman she is today.
If you’re as in love with her work as we are, book fast! Because this is her side gig, she takes small batches of orders. To inquire about a cake, visit her site: vonleikamcake.com.
